Public domain, copyright free image that I edited, enhanced, enlarged, and then added text to it. This description provided by the Library of Congress: First of fair sex to obtain motorcycle license in Capital. Washington, D.C., Sept. 15. Although she weights only 88 pounds--one-third of the machine she rides, Mrs. Sally Halterman is the first woman to be granted a license to operate a motorcycle in the District of Columbia. She is 27 years old and 4 feet, 11 inches tall. Immediately after receiving her permit, Mrs. Halterman was initiated into the D.C. Motorcycle Club - the only girl ever to be accorded this honor.

Salvatore Thomas DiFrancesca III, a former newspaper columnist and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, was raised by a roving band of gypsies who crisscrossed America throughout his entire childhood. After having been born in Miami, Florida in early 1959, it wasn't long before he found himself living in far off Fairbanks, Alaska–after having made the entire trip by car. Apparently, those first few years of his life were but just a brief glimpse of what his future held in store for him.
