About Tom DiFrancesca

Tom DiFrancesca Salvatore Thomas DiFrancesca III, a former newspaper columnist and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, was raised by a roving band of gypsies who crisscrossed America throughout his entire childhood. After having been born in Miami, Florida in early 1959, it wasn't long before he found himself living in far off Fairbanks, Alaska–after having made the entire trip by car. Apparently, those first few years of his life were but just a brief glimpse of what his future held in store for him.

To tell you the truth, Tom was not raised by gypsies, but instead by a military family, but apparently, there is gypsy blood running through his veins, anyway. These days, some fifty years after leaving Alaska, Tom recently settled down onto the Coastal Bend of Texas. Prior to that, he spent a couple of decades roving back and forth between Florida and New Mexico.

While attending film school in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the early 1990's, Tom became interested in both black and white photography and creative writing. His time spent in Santa Fe was a turning point in his life as it opened up new doors of opportunity for him to explore. In addition, he got to cross paths with a number of celebrities such as Woody Harrelson, Kiefer Sutherland, and even Charlton Heston. Added bonuses for him were also being able to hang out on the set of Kevin Costner's "Wyatt Earp" during some of the filming, and to be an extra in the film "The Cowboy Way".

Tom now specializes in water and wildlife photography. Water being the beach, bayou, river, or bay. When he’s not out and about with his trusty digital camera, he can most oftentimes be found writing yet another fiction novel or an additional self-help or inspirational book, many of which can be found on the Amazon dot com website. Tom has been a published poet for several years now and one of his favorite forms of poetry is Haiku.
